Scale is what separates the Ambra from most semi flush fittings. The shade measures 11.8 inches across and stands 10.2 inches deep, which is close to pendant proportions held tight to the ceiling. Over a kitchen island or a round dining table it fills the space above the surface the way a hanging fixture would, without dropping anything into the sightline across the room. In a bedroom it is large enough to be the only ceiling light rather than an accent beside something else.

The shade is glass throughout and comes two ways. The champagne tint warms whatever bulb sits behind it and softens the edges of the light. The clear version puts the bulb on show and throws a harder, more defined pattern, which is the right call if you want a visible filament as part of the look. One socket sits inside, an E26 medium base, and bulbs are not included, so the character of the output stays a separate decision made after the fixture arrives. The mounting plate measures 3.9 inches across.

The Ambra hardwires and requires assembly, so allow for a junction box and a few minutes of work. It runs on 120V, 60Hz US mains and is rated for dry indoor locations, which rules out an open-shower bathroom or a covered porch.

It fills the space above an island or a round table the way a hanging fixture would, then stops there. Nothing drops into the sightline across the room, which is what makes it work over a table you also want to see past.

It is a semi flush fitting, so the shade mounts straight onto a 3.9 inch ceiling plate and the whole assembly stands 10.2 inches deep. There is no cable or rod to add to that.
Champagne tints whatever bulb you fit and softens the edges of the light, which suits a bedroom or a dining table. Clear leaves the bulb on show and throws a harder, more defined pattern, so pick it if a visible filament is part of the look you want.
No. It takes one E26 medium base bulb, the standard US screw fitting, so the character of the light stays your decision. The fixture is hardwired to a ceiling box and rated for dry indoor locations.

Flush and semi-flush fixtures exist for ceilings that cannot give up the height. Choosing between them is mostly a clearance question.

  • Ceilings under 8 feetChoose flush. A semi-flush will feel low.
  • Ceilings 8 to 10 feetSemi-flush works and adds some depth to the room.
  • Minimum clearanceAt least 7 feet from the floor to the lowest point of the fixture.
