Walnut carries this sconce. The dome is turned from solid stock rather than veneered or printed, and the grain reads differently on every piece, which is why the shade is the part of the fixture you notice rather than the hardware behind it. A brass backplate and stem supply the structure and the contrast, and nothing else competes for attention.

Because the shade is opaque, light leaves it in one direction only, downward, in a defined pool rather than a spread. That behavior is what makes it usable at close range: mounted beside a bed or above a reading chair the source stays hidden from anyone sitting under it, and there is no glare across the wall. The inner face of the walnut warms the reflected light slightly, so the pool is soft rather than white.

The fixture is deliberately small. Just over seven inches across and six deep, it clears circulation in a standard corridor and can be repeated along a hallway at intervals without the wall starting to look busy. It hardwires to a wall junction box, takes one E26 medium base bulb up to 40 watts, and switches at a fine brass pull chain hanging from the backplate. It is rated IP20, which means indoor and dry locations only. Installation should be carried out by a licensed electrician following local code. Dust the wood with a soft dry cloth and keep solvents and standing moisture away from the finish.

Solid walnut, turned not veneered

The dome is turned from solid stock, so the grain runs through the shade rather than over it, and the inner face warms the light it reflects.

One direction, straight down

An opaque shade keeps the source out of your eye line.

Small enough to repeat

Just over seven inches wide, so a run never crowds a wall.

One E26 medium base bulb to a maximum of 40 watts. The shade is opaque, so the bulb itself is never in view from below.
Yes. A fine brass pull chain hangs from the backplate, so the sconce can be switched where it is mounted.
No. Anras is rated IP20, which means indoor and dry locations only, so it should not be fitted in a bathroom zone or anywhere exposed to moisture.

Sconces are the easiest fixture to hang badly. Height is set by what they sit next to, not by the wall.

  • General wall heightCentre of the fixture 60 to 66 inches from the finished floor.
  • Beside a bedCentre 30 to 36 inches above the top of the mattress, so the light falls on the page and not in your eyes.
  • Flanking a mirrorMount as a pair, 28 to 40 inches apart, centred at about eye level.
  • Above a mirror insteadCentre 75 to 80 inches from the floor, roughly 3 to 8 inches above the mirror top.
  • Along a hallwayEvery 8 to 10 feet, and measure the projection against the walkway before mounting in a narrow corridor.
  • At a vanityA pair either side lights a face evenly. A single fixture overhead casts shadows downward.

Starting points, not rules. Check them against the measurements listed for this piece and against your own wall before you drill.

From Our Customers

What Elbrune shoppers have to say.

Exactly What the Kitchen Needed

Was a little unsure about the size at first, but it ended up looking perfect over our table. The warm light makes the kitchen feel so much cozier. Really happy with it.

Took a Little Longer, but I Love It

Shipping took a few days longer than expected, but everything arrived safely. The lamp looks really nice on our nightstand and customer service was helpful when I asked for an update.

Glad I Went for It

I hadn’t ordered from Elbrune before so I was a little nervous. Everything arrived well packed though and the light looks even nicer in person :)

Looks So Nice Over the Table

The color is a little warmer in person than I expected, but I actually like it better that way. Looks great over our dining table.

Made Our Patio Look So Much Better

We put these by the back door and I’m really happy with them. They give off plenty of light and made the patio feel a lot nicer at night.

Took a While, but Worth It

Delivery took around 10 days, but other than that no complaints. The lamp looks great in our living room and feels really solid.

Light where you use it

Wall light works close up, softening a room instead of flooding it.

Beside a bed, above a mirror

The places a room needs light most are rarely the middle of the ceiling.

Up, down or both

Which way a sconce throws its light changes the whole wall.
