Cast from gypsum plaster, the Norbury sits almost flat against the wall and reads as part of the architecture rather than a fixture hung on it. A ribbed, gently curved face throws light up and down in two soft columns, which suits a hallway that needs shape without glare, a bedside wall, or a living room corner a lamp cannot reach.

The surface arrives unfinished and takes ordinary emulsion, so the light can be painted to disappear into the wall behind it or picked out in a contrasting shade. Plaster holds the ribbing crisply and gives the piece real weight. Two sizes are offered: 7.9 inches wide by 4.6 inches high, and 11.8 inches wide by 5.5 inches high, both projecting a little over three inches.

Each fixture takes a single G9 bulb, and a warm white 3000K LED is supplied in the box. It dims on a compatible wall dimmer, so one fitting covers reading light and low evening light. Installation is hardwired to a junction box and there is no switch built into the body, so plan on a wall switch or dimmer on the circuit. Rated IP20 for indoor, dry rooms only.

Paint it the color of the wall

The gypsum arrives unfinished and takes ordinary emulsion, so the fitting can disappear into the wall behind it or be picked out against it. No metal or glass sconce can do that.

The ribbed face splits the output into two columns.

Yes, that is the point. The gypsum body arrives unfinished and takes ordinary emulsion straight from the tin, so it can be matched to the wall or deliberately contrasted with it.
Yes. A warm white 3000K G9 LED is in the box and it dims on a compatible wall dimmer. The G9 base is replaceable.
No. It is hardwired with no switch on the body, so plan on a wall switch or dimmer on the circuit. Rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms only.

Sconces are the easiest fixture to hang badly. Height is set by what they sit next to, not by the wall.

  • General wall heightCentre of the fixture 60 to 66 inches from the finished floor.
  • Beside a bedCentre 30 to 36 inches above the top of the mattress, so the light falls on the page and not in your eyes.
  • Flanking a mirrorMount as a pair, 28 to 40 inches apart, centred at about eye level.
  • Above a mirror insteadCentre 75 to 80 inches from the floor, roughly 3 to 8 inches above the mirror top.
  • Along a hallwayEvery 8 to 10 feet, and measure the projection against the walkway before mounting in a narrow corridor.
  • At a vanityA pair either side lights a face evenly. A single fixture overhead casts shadows downward.

Starting points, not rules. Check them against the measurements listed for this piece and against your own wall before you drill.

From Our Customers

What Elbrune shoppers have to say.

Exactly What the Kitchen Needed

Was a little unsure about the size at first, but it ended up looking perfect over our table. The warm light makes the kitchen feel so much cozier. Really happy with it.

Took a Little Longer, but I Love It

Shipping took a few days longer than expected, but everything arrived safely. The lamp looks really nice on our nightstand and customer service was helpful when I asked for an update.

Glad I Went for It

I hadn’t ordered from Elbrune before so I was a little nervous. Everything arrived well packed though and the light looks even nicer in person :)

Looks So Nice Over the Table

The color is a little warmer in person than I expected, but I actually like it better that way. Looks great over our dining table.

Made Our Patio Look So Much Better

We put these by the back door and I’m really happy with them. They give off plenty of light and made the patio feel a lot nicer at night.

Took a While, but Worth It

Delivery took around 10 days, but other than that no complaints. The lamp looks great in our living room and feels really solid.

Light where you use it

Wall light works close up, softening a room instead of flooding it.

Beside a bed, above a mirror

The places a room needs light most are rarely the middle of the ceiling.

Up, down or both

Which way a sconce throws its light changes the whole wall.
