Anjou is built in tiers. Four ribbed glass rings step outward and then back in, widest near the base, so the silhouette narrows toward an antique brass cap at the top. Every ring carries vertical fluting, which is the detail that earns the fixture its keep: lit from inside, the ribs break the light into fine vertical lines that move as you walk past, and unlit the glass still catches whatever daylight the room has.

The glass is tinted, in brown, gray or pink, each holding its color strongly enough to change the character of the light rather than just the look of the shade. Brown is the warmest and closest to amber, gray the most restrained, pink the most unusual. Brass hardware runs through all three, at the cap and the suspension, and the antique finish means it reads as aged rather than bright. Behind the glass sits one socket taking a 40 watt maximum bulb on an E26 medium base.

The body is 8.7 inches across and 11.8 inches tall, so it is taller than it is wide and works where a wide shade would crowd a space: over a bedside table, in a stairwell, or as a pair flanking a bed. It hardwires to a ceiling box on 120V, 60Hz US mains and the cord adjusts up to 59 inches. Bulbs are not supplied, and the rating is dry indoor locations only.

The ribs are cut vertically into all four rings, so instead of one flat glow you get fine lines that shift with where you are standing. That is the reason to choose glass like this over a smooth shade, and it is visible from across a room.

No, all three options are tinted: brown, gray or pink. The tint is strong enough to change the color of the light in the room, not only the look of the shade when the fixture is off.
One E26 medium base bulb up to 40 watts, and the bulb is not included. Ribbed glass shows the shape of the filament behind it, so a clear vintage style lamp and a frosted one give noticeably different results.
The cord adjusts up to 59 inches, so it can drop beside a bed or over a small table, or be shortened for a landing. It hardwires to a ceiling box and is rated for dry indoor locations.

Pendants live or die on drop height. Too high and the light scatters, too low and it blocks the sightline across the room.

  • Hanging two or threeSpace them 24 to 30 inches apart and keep about 6 inches in from each end of the island.
