Marble does something a painted shade cannot. The stone is faintly translucent, so a lamp behind it produces a soft internal glow at the same time as the light it throws downward. The Quiberon pairs a white marble shade with brass hardware, and at 7.1 or 8.7 inches across it is deliberately small. The brass carries the cord and the canopy, and it warms with age rather than dulling.

Small is the whole argument. One unit works beside a bed or over the corner of a counter, and because the shade is compact, two or three in a line above an island stay legible as separate objects instead of merging into a single bright band. The 7.1 inch shade stands 4.7 inches tall and the 8.7 inch stands 5.9, so the proportions stay squat at either size.

This is a directly wired fixture, connecting to a ceiling junction box rather than to a plug, and the cord runs 78.7 inches as standard, which is long enough for a high ceiling. It takes one E26 medium base bulb, not included, and carries CE and UL certification. Wipe the marble with a soft dry cloth only; cleaning products can mark the stone. Both sizes take the same lamp, so choosing between them is purely a question of proportion.

Stone you can see light through

Marble is faintly translucent, so the shade warms from within at the same time as it throws light down. A painted shade only ever does the second thing.

One. The design is meant to be installed in twos or threes over an island, where the small shade keeps each unit legible instead of merging into a single bar of light, but each order is a single pendant.
No, and it is not meant to. Every shade is natural stone, so the veining differs unit to unit. Order them together if you want them to sit in the same tonal range.
A soft dry cloth only. Cleaning products can mark the stone permanently.

Pendants live or die on drop height. Too high and the light scatters, too low and it blocks the sightline across the room.

  • Over a kitchen islandBottom of the shade 30 to 36 inches above the countertop.
  • Over a dining tableBottom of the shade 30 to 34 inches above the tabletop.
  • Hanging two or threeSpace them 24 to 30 inches apart and keep about 6 inches in from each end of the island.
  • Open floor or walkwayLeave at least 7 feet of clearance underneath.
  • Picking a sizeOver a table, aim for a shade roughly half to two thirds the width of the table.
