A bathroom sconce has to survive humidity without looking like hardware, and the Ashford does both. Clear ribbed glass sits in an antique brass collar, slim enough to flank a mirror in pairs or to stand alone beside a vanity. The fluting breaks the output into vertical bands rather than throwing one hot spot, which is the difference between flattering face light and the flat overhead glare most bathrooms are stuck with.

The IP44 rating is what makes it usable there. It is tested against splashing water from any direction, so the fixture can go in the zones around a basin or outside a shower enclosure where an unrated sconce should never be fitted. The brass carries an aged finish rather than a bright polish, so it reads warm against marble, terrazzo, brushed gold tapware and painted plaster alike, and it will not fight a room that already has a mixed metal story.

At 14.2 inches tall and just 3.1 inches wide it takes almost no wall, projecting 4.7 inches from the surface. It hardwires to a standard junction box and runs on 120V household current, so it needs an electrical point rather than an outlet. A warm white 2700K LED bulb is included, which settles the color temperature before the box is opened. Mount one to the side of a mirror, or a matched pair at eye level, and the light lands where you actually need it.

Rated for the splash zone

Most decorative sconces are not safe in a bathroom, which is the whole problem with lighting one well. Ashford is IP44 rated, tested against splashing water from any direction, so it can go in the zones around a basin or outside a shower enclosure where an unrated fitting should never be installed.

Bands, not one hot spot

Fluted glass splits the output into vertical bands.

3.1 inches of wall

A pair flanks a mirror even in a small bathroom.

Yes. It is IP44 rated, which means it is tested against splashing water from any direction, so it suits the zones around a basin or outside a shower enclosure. An unrated sconce should never be fitted there.
Yes. A warm white 2700K LED bulb ships with the fixture, so the light tone is settled before the box is opened.

Sconces are the easiest fixture to hang badly. Height is set by what they sit next to, not by the wall.

  • General wall heightCentre of the fixture 60 to 66 inches from the finished floor.
  • Beside a bedCentre 30 to 36 inches above the top of the mattress, so the light falls on the page and not in your eyes.
  • Flanking a mirrorMount as a pair, 28 to 40 inches apart, centred at about eye level.
  • Above a mirror insteadCentre 75 to 80 inches from the floor, roughly 3 to 8 inches above the mirror top.
  • Along a hallwayEvery 8 to 10 feet, and measure the projection against the walkway before mounting in a narrow corridor.
  • At a vanityA pair either side lights a face evenly. A single fixture overhead casts shadows downward.

Starting points, not rules. Check them against the measurements listed for this piece and against your own wall before you drill.

From Our Customers

What Elbrune shoppers have to say.

Exactly What the Kitchen Needed

Was a little unsure about the size at first, but it ended up looking perfect over our table. The warm light makes the kitchen feel so much cozier. Really happy with it.

Took a Little Longer, but I Love It

Shipping took a few days longer than expected, but everything arrived safely. The lamp looks really nice on our nightstand and customer service was helpful when I asked for an update.

Glad I Went for It

I hadn’t ordered from Elbrune before so I was a little nervous. Everything arrived well packed though and the light looks even nicer in person :)

Looks So Nice Over the Table

The color is a little warmer in person than I expected, but I actually like it better that way. Looks great over our dining table.

Made Our Patio Look So Much Better

We put these by the back door and I’m really happy with them. They give off plenty of light and made the patio feel a lot nicer at night.

Took a While, but Worth It

Delivery took around 10 days, but other than that no complaints. The lamp looks great in our living room and feels really solid.

Light where you use it

Wall light works close up, softening a room instead of flooding it.

Beside a bed, above a mirror

The places a room needs light most are rarely the middle of the ceiling.

Up, down or both

Which way a sconce throws its light changes the whole wall.
