Castella is a vertical exterior wall light that switches itself on when somebody approaches. A built-in motion sensor drives the fixture, so a driveway, a side passage or a back door is lit the moment it is used and dark again afterwards. That is the practical difference between a facade light that decorates and one that earns its wiring.

The body is extruded aluminum with an acrylic diffuser running its full length. The outer frame is painted white around a recessed matte black face, with the round sensor lens set below the middle. Light comes from an integrated LED array in a warm white tone, rated between 800 and 2320 lumens depending on the height you choose and drawing 10 to 29 watts. An IP65 rating seals the housing against dust and against water jets from any direction, which suits an exposed wall, a gatepost or an entrance with no overhang above it.

Five heights are made, from 15.7 inches up to 47.2 inches, all at a slim 3.1 inch width, so the fixture scales to the wall instead of the wall accommodating the fixture. Taller versions carry more wattage and more output. Installation is hardwired to a junction box and an illustrated installation guide is supplied; the connection should be made by an electrician. The fixture carries CE and UL certification.

No. The built in sensor brings it on when somebody approaches and it goes dark again afterwards, so an entrance is covered without a facade burning all night.
The outer aluminium frame is white painted and the recessed face behind the diffuser is matte black, with the round sensor lens set below the middle.
Output runs from 800 lumens at 10W on the 15.7 inch up to 2320 lumens at 29W on the 47.2 inch, all in a warm white tone.

Outdoor fixtures are sized larger than they look indoors, and the rating matters as much as the height.

  • Beside a front doorCentre about 66 inches from the threshold, on the handle side.
  • Picking a sizeRoughly one third the height of the door for a single fixture, one quarter each if you mount a pair.
  • Either side of a garageCentre 66 to 72 inches above the driveway.
  • Along a wallEvery 8 to 10 feet keeps the light even without hotspots between fixtures.
  • Before you buyCheck the fixture's damp or wet rating against where it will sit. Anything taking direct rain needs a wet rating.
