Unlit, Cuellar is a photographic full moon face behind a plexiglass lens, with an analog dial and small markers at twelve, three, six and nine. Lit, it becomes a soft disc of warm light, and the room around it changes more than the clock itself does. The two states are different enough that it is worth deciding which one you are buying it for.

The glow runs at 3000K, the warm end of white, and that number is the reason the effect reads as moonlight rather than as a screen. Cooler temperatures throw a blue cast that makes any lit disc look like a device somebody left on, while at 3000K the light sits alongside lamp and candle light instead of competing with it. Plexiglass over a density board back is what keeps the diffusion even: a rigid backing holds the circle flat and a translucent front spreads the light across the whole face rather than showing bright points behind it.

Two diameters are made, 11.8 and 15.7 inches, and both read as a complete disc from across a room, with the larger carrying further in an open plan space. The light source is an integrated LED array, so there is no bulb to replace over its life. It hangs on a single wall fixing. Wipe the plexiglass with a soft dry cloth and keep solvents well away from it.
