Borrowed proportion does the work on this lamp. A circular head sits on a squared base, the outline a mantel clock has carried for a century, with no printed dial and no pretence of telling the time. The shape is the reference and the reference stops there, which is what keeps it from reading as a novelty piece.

Output is the part that separates it from most decorative bedside lamps. Twelve watts of integrated LED produce 1200 lumens, enough to read a book by properly rather than merely enough to find the room. Dimming is stepless rather than stepped, so that same output can be taken down to a low glow with no jump between settings, and one lamp covers both a reading task and an evening background level. The circular head also pushes light forward instead of only downward, which is what makes reading by it practical.

Control is a touch pad on the body, so there is no switch to hunt for in the dark and no rocker to fish out from behind a nightstand. The round base is also a wireless charging pad, so the lamp stands in for the bedside charger instead of competing with it for the same outlet. The housing is aluminum with a plastic shade, finished in gold, and it plugs into a standard outlet. At 10.63 by 18.5 inches on a 6.3 inch base it fits a normal nightstand or a desk return without crowding it. The LED is integrated, so there is no bulb to buy now or replace later.

No. The round head and the two hands are a borrowed silhouette. There is no movement and no dial, and the lamp keeps no time.
The round base charges wirelessly, so the lamp takes the place of a separate bedside charging pad rather than sitting next to it. No charging standard or wattage is published for it.
It is 10.63 inches wide and 18.5 inches tall on a 6.3 inch round base, so it takes the footprint of a small vase and leaves room for a book beside it.

A table lamp is sized to the surface it stands on and to the person sitting beside it.

  • Beside a bedThe bottom of the shade should sit roughly level with your shoulder when you are sitting up in bed.
  • Beside a reading chairBottom of the shade at eye level when seated, usually around 42 inches from the floor.
  • On a console or sideboardTotal lamp height no more than about one and a half times the depth of the surface.
