Burning a candle to get the scent out of it wastes the candle and puts a flame on the furniture. The Yarrow warms it instead. A brushed brass frame holds a cone shade and its light source directly over the wax, and the heat released from above lifts the fragrance with no wick lit and no soot on the jar.

Output is adjustable, which in practice makes the warming rate adjustable: turn it up for a large three wick jar, down for a small votive. The lamp stands 12.5 inches tall on a 6.6 inch base, high enough to clear a standard candle jar and compact enough for a bedside table, a shelf or a desk. LED bulbs are included. The candle is not.

Four finishes are offered, white, black, silver and red, each with the same brushed brass uprights and collar and the cone carrying the color. It runs from household AC power and is made for indoor use on a flat surface. Treat it as a heat source: keep it clear of curtains, paper and anything that can catch, never leave it running unattended, and let the shade cool before moving it. Children and pets should not be able to reach the shade while it is switched on.

No. Any jar candle, wax melt or votive that fits under the shade will do, and the candle is not supplied. Nothing is ever lit.
Output is adjustable, and turning the light up or down changes the warming level with it. LED bulbs are supplied and it runs from a standard outlet.
Treat it as a heat source. Stand it on a flat, heat tolerant surface, keep it clear of curtains, paper and anything that will scorch, never leave it running unattended or within reach of children or pets, and let the shade cool before you move it.

A table lamp is sized to the surface it stands on and to the person sitting beside it.

  • Beside a bedThe bottom of the shade should sit roughly level with your shoulder when you are sitting up in bed.
  • Beside a reading chairBottom of the shade at eye level when seated, usually around 42 inches from the floor.
  • On a console or sideboardTotal lamp height no more than about one and a half times the depth of the surface.
  • Picking a sizeThe shade should be a little wider than the base and no wider than the table it stands on.
